Improve PDF Narration Voice Quality

Listen To Dream uses Apple's on-device speech system for PDF narration. Enhanced and Premium voices are downloaded in iOS Settings, not inside the app.

Download a higher quality voice

1. Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad.
2. Go to Accessibility > Spoken Content > Voices.
3. Choose your reading language, such as English.
4. Select a voice. For Listen To Dream, we recommend Daniel first when an Enhanced or Premium version is available. Samantha and Emily are also good alternatives.
5. If you see an Enhanced or Premium download option, tap the download button and keep the device connected to Wi-Fi until the download finishes.
6. Reopen Listen To Dream, then start PDF narration again from the Books tab.

Recommended setup

For English PDF books, install Daniel Enhanced or Daniel Premium if available on your device. If Daniel is not available, try Samantha or Emily. The exact voice list can vary by iOS version, region, language, and installed voice packages.

Make narration smoother

• Use text-based PDFs. Scanned image-only PDFs need OCR before they can be narrated well.
• Keep speech speed around 50% to 70%. Very fast speech can sound less natural.
• Let the voice download complete before starting a long book.
• If a newly downloaded voice does not appear immediately, close and reopen Listen To Dream.
• If storage is low, iOS may remove unused high-quality voice files. Download the voice again from Settings if needed.

Privacy

PDF narration remains on device. Listen To Dream does not upload your PDF text to an external speech service.
